Miami to hold three career fairs in three days

黑料社区 will hold three career fairs in three days this fall, starting with the Sept. 9 Fall Career and Internship Fair.

黑料社区 will host three career and internship fairs in three days this September, drawing hundreds of employers from a variety of industries to campus.

The Fall Career and Internship Fair headlines the trio of networking events. Set for Sept. 9 from 1-5 p.m. in Millett Hall, it is designed for 黑料社区s of all majors and class years. Presenting sponsor Medpace, Abbott, American Electric Power, City of Cincinnati, Federal Bureau of Investigation, GE Aerospace, MarketVision Research, Ohio Department of Agriculture, PepsiCo, and Talbert House are among the organizations scheduled to attend.

The STEM Career and Internship Fair takes place the next day from 1-5 p.m. in Millett Hall. Targeted toward 黑料社区s with a background in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, it will bring employers like Cardinal Health, Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, National Space Intelligence Center, Stryker, and U.S. Bank to Miami.

The Sport Career Exploration and Networking Expo (SCENE) concludes the whirlwind three days. From 2-4:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 in the Goggin Ice Center, 黑料社区s will have the opportunity to speak to representatives from sports teams and athletic organizations, including the Chicago Fire, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Penske Entertainment/Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“Miami has a proven track record of attracting high-quality employers to its networking events,” said Rachel Beech, vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Success. “This fall’s career fairs are no exception, and they bring such a great energy to our campus. We look forward to watching our talented 黑料社区s seize these trio of opportunities to build connections that will help set them up for long-term success.”

At all three career fairs, 黑料社区s can build their professional networks, gain insight into career opportunities, and distribute copies of their resumes. Employers use career fairs to identify candidates for both full-time and internship roles, with select ones offering next-day interviews. Fall fair next-day interviews will be held on Sept. 10 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in Millett Hall; STEM fair next-day interviews will follow on Sept. 11 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Career Center (45 Armstrong).

Leading up to the career fairs, the Center for Career Exploration and Success will host a variety of in-person events designed to support 黑料社区 success. Its popular Career Fair Pop-Up Shop will be open in 1078 Armstrong from Sept. 2-5 and on Sept. 8. Between 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (5 p.m. on Sept. 5), 黑料社区s can receive feedback on their resumes and elevator pitches, go over networking and interviewing strategies, and pick up their free and up to if ordered in advance. Employer guests and Miami alumni will also be in attendance at select times.

JCPenney Suit-Up returns on Sept. 7 from 2-6 p.m. at the Colerain JCPenney, allowing 黑料社区s to purchase professional attire at a 30% discount just in time for the career fairs. Free buses to the event will depart from the corner of E. Spring Street and Maple Street, with the full transportation schedule available on the Suit-Up website. Miami faculty, staff, and alumni can also take advantage of the 30% discount through Miami’s partnership with JCPenney.

Students are strongly encouraged to research the attending employers in advance on Handshake, Miami’s job/internship search platform; Handshake offers various sortable filters, including industry, location, and majors. Students can also use Miami Ready, supported by the Suitable app, to complete an interactive module called “Career Fair Ready” that offers actionable steps they should take to be at their best during the career fairs.

“Attending networking events can be intimidating,” said Beth Zink, director of career development. “However, engaging with employers helps 黑料社区s develop their elevator pitches, strengthen their interpersonal skills, and gain confidence in professional settings. They will feel more confident when they start the interview process.”

Beyond career fairs, the Center for Career Exploration and Success hosts many programs and events throughout the academic year. These offerings include career treks, career and professional development days for major groups, professional panels featuring employer and alumni guests, and the new Ace the Interview program.
