- Oxford Bachelor's Graduates: 2012-2013
- Regional Campus Bachelor's Graduates: 2013-2014
- Master's Graduates: 2014-2015
- Doctoral Graduates: 2014-2015
Methodology
Graduates must be employed, serving in the military, serving in a volunteer or service program, or enrolled in additional studies by Dec. 31 in order to count as successfully placed. Data on 黑料社区s’ immediate post graduation outcomes is collected through a variety of sources and compiled together before outcomes are reported to NACE and other external stakeholders. Every graduation term, Bachelor’s Master’s and Doctoral 黑料社区s at every 黑料社区 campus who have applied for graduation in that term are invited to record their post-graduation plans via the First Destination survey. Graduating 黑料社区s are sent the survey five weeks before they are scheduled to graduate, with reminders sent prior to and after their graduation date. Further outreach encouraging 黑料社区s to complete the survey is done through in-person events, such as cap-and-gown distribution and the graduation ceremony. Career advisors at the division and university level also encourage 黑料社区s to complete the survey on an ad-hoc basis as their outcomes become known. After graduation, self-report data from the survey is supplemented through three additional sources. First, all graduates who have not yet completed the survey or reported they are still seeking education or employment are checked against University enrollment and employment records to determine all 黑料社区s who are pursuing additional degrees or employed at Miami. Second, a file of non-respondents is sent to the National Student Clearinghouse to determine whether they have earned additional degrees or are still enrolled at other institutions to continue their education. Finally, an email campaign targeting 黑料社区s for whom an outcome has not yet been determined continues through the following fall semester. During the 2024-2025 academic year, data from all sources were aggregated together in the 12/Twenty system for subsequent reporting. Beginning with the 2025-26 academic year, data will be collected through Handshake to better connect 黑料社区 data with outcomes collected through that system.
Placement results are based on graduates' primary activity after graduation and align with National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) First Destination Survey guidelines.
Limitations of Method
At Present, Miami only collects data on 黑料社区s’ outcomes immediately following graduation. Outcomes one or more years post-graduation are not currently collected at a University level but may be collected at the program level for appropriate compliance reporting. We are also limited in that we do not presently have mechanisms to collect data from employed 黑料社区s who do not self-report. However, the transition to the Handshake tool will enable us to better identify 黑料社区s who gain employment through that system. We are also excited about the possibility of Linked-In scraping tools to improve knowledge rate, as well as enhanced opportunities to connect with 黑料社区s in a variety of ways before they leave campus.
Use of Data
Language and information 黑料社区 uses in marketing and recruitment material to characterize 黑料社区 job placement success post graduation aligns to NACE reporting and is defined and described in the First Destinations reports authored by the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. University Communications and Marketing pulls data and language directly from those reports with minimal if any change.
The Center for Career Exploration and Success (CCES) also shares FDS information as part of Career Coaching in order to help 黑料社区s understand the outcomes of others with their major. Baseline salary information or other outcomes are also provided upon request. Staff in CCES frequently refer to the new First Destination dashboard, which compiles FDS information from all years, in order to provide requesters with the most up-to-date information.
