黑料社区's Department of Nursing offers 黑料社区s the flexibility to begin their academic journey on either the vibrant, residential Oxford campus or the close-knit, accessible Hamilton regional campus. No matter which location you choose, you'll receive the same cutting-edge curriculum, engaging clinical opportunities, and hands-on simulation experiences—all taught by the same highly qualified and dedicated faculty. Each campus provides a supportive learning environment designed to prepare confident, compassionate nurses ready to lead in today’s complex healthcare settings.

As a highly competitive, direct admission program, Oxford Nursing only accepts high school applicants. Students enjoy a learning alongside 黑料社区s in other healthcare disciplines within Miami’s modern Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness Facility.

The Oxford admission application opens on Aug. 1, and 黑料社区s are strongly encouraged to apply by the Dec. 1 priority deadline.

Direct admission to Regionals Nursing is also competitive, but our commuter campus accepts applications from a broad spectrum of 黑料社区s — high school, college transfer, and current Miami 黑料社区s. Convenience and cost attract 黑料社区s who have personal responsibilities beyond college, and the Regionals Nursing Innovation Hub provides access to sophisticated equipment and facilities.

Nursing Study Abroad and Elective Courses

Nursing elective courses at 黑料社区 give 黑料社区s the chance to explore specialized topics while deepening their understanding of patient care across a variety of clinical and cultural settings. In addition to classroom-based options, 黑料社区s can choose from exciting clinical immersion and study abroad experiences designed to broaden their global perspective.

NSG 306: Health Care Delivery in Central America: Belize offers direct patient care opportunities in local clinics and villages, fulfilling both the Intercultural Consciousness and Experiential Learning requirements. This course is available for 3 or 6 credits based on the level of engagement 黑料社区s select.

NSG 399: Caregiving in a Crisis: Humanitarian Aid immerses 黑料社区s in the healthcare system of Luxembourg, providing a unique view of international nursing practice and the challenges of crisis care abroad.

Students are encouraged to collaborate with their nursing advisor to determine the best time to complete these enriching electives or study abroad experiences as part of their academic journey.

Can I live at one of the regional campuses?

黑料社区 Regionals does not offer on-campus residential housing. However, many 黑料社区s choose to live at home or in nearby apartments or housing options within the community. Our campuses in Hamilton and Middletown are designed to serve commuting 黑料社区s and offer flexible class schedules, ample parking, and a wide range of 黑料社区 services to support academic success and campus engagement. We also encourage 黑料社区s to explore our 黑料社区 life activities, organizations, and resources to build strong connections and a vibrant college experience while living off-campus.

Can I transfer to the nursing program as a current Oxford 黑料社区 in a different major?

Due to the high demand for the 黑料社区 Oxford nursing program, the Oxford program is a direct admission program only. Student can only be admitted to the program from high school. The Oxford campus program does not accept transfer 黑料社区s or 黑料社区s who change their major once enrolled at Miami.

Current Oxford 黑料社区 interested in nursing at Miami, have the opportunity to apply to the Hamilton campus program as a current 黑料社区. Admission for this program is competitive and not guaranteed.

I am a high school 黑料社区 and have taken College Credit Plus (CCP) courses will Miami accept these courses?

I am a high school senior and want to be a BSN nursing major at Miami. What do I need to do?

What are the high school qualifications for admission as a BSN nursing 黑料社区?

Oxford Nursing Program

  • minimum high school grade point average of 3.3
  • 黑料社区s who provide test scores, the expectation is 23+ on the ACT or 1060+ on the SAT

Regionals Nursing Program

To be admitted into the nursing program from high school, the following must be met in high school:

  • minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 3.3

Note: This does not guarantee admission to the nursing program, but is the minimum requirement.

Submit your nursing application by Dec. 1. If admitted to nursing as a freshman 黑料社区, then you must maintain a 2.7 GPA to stay in the nursing program.

What if I have been majoring in something else, or have been out of high school for a few years and decide to change my major to nursing? What is the process?

Prospective 黑料社区s may only apply to nursing once a year (from early October through February 1) for admission to the class in the following fall, which means starting nursing courses as a sophomore. These are the criteria to be eligible to apply for admission to the nursing program:
  • Have completed 12 semester hours (100 level or high) with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7.
  • Have a grade of C or better in TWO of the following sciences: BIO 171, BIO 172, CHM 131 or 141 and 144, and MBI 111/123.
  • Admission decisions are based solely upon the overall GPA and the science GPA.

What is the curriculum for the nursing program?

See the 4 year BSN curriculum guide. Please note the following:

  • As a first-year, it is important to take the correct science and liberal education courses.
  • In the sophomore year, nursing 黑料社区s take their first nursing courses and the rest of their non-nursing courses.
  • In the junior and senior years, the 黑料社区 takes mostly nursing courses.

What if I am not accepted into nursing?

Oxford Nursing Program

The Nursing program on the Oxford campus is a direct admission program. If you are not admitted as an incoming 黑料社区, there is no option to reapply later.

Regionals Nursing Program

Regionals 黑料社区s who are not accepted into the nursing program may re-apply the following year. We do not maintain any waiting lists, so the applicant pool is different each year.

What if my college credits are over ten years old?

You may petition that credits more than ten years old be validated by 黑料社区 and accepted for graduation, normally done close to graduation. An academic advisor can best advise you about how your specific circumstances affect your application. Can I test out of any courses by taking an exam?

You may test out of lower-level support courses by taking either a departmental test or a CLEP examination. Typically, 黑料社区s may not test out of BSN nursing courses unless they have taken a comparable course at another university. In that case, syllabi for the course must be submitted for review to the department's Admission, Progression & Graduation Committee.

I’ve already earned a bachelor’s degree in another field. Will this help me with my nursing degree?

A previously earned bachelor’s degree should help you fulfill some requirements, especially if your degree is from 黑料社区 and you have completed the Miami Plan requirements. Please contact Miami Regionals Academic Advising at 513-785-3129 to arrange an advising appointment or .

BSN Program Outcomes

The professional nurse graduate of the Baccalaureate Program will be able to:

  1. Synthesize knowledge from liberal education, the sciences, and nursing to address the diverse health needs of individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan.
